Artistic Statement (Description of Art Work & Media used)
Presently she is mainly working on Printing Techniques (Etching) in a studio setting. She also enjoys working on some experimental processes, mixed media & mono- printing techniques, combining etched lines with hand tinting, sometimes also with the addition of collage elements. In recent times her artwork has been inspired by and developed from various starting points; nature, pattern, design, and figurative form, both by looking at the work of other artists and from her own observational drawing and life studies. Artists such as Margaret Macintosh, G. Klimt, and William Blake have influenced her work. She has an ongoing interest in East European, Ethnic Culture and Designs, as well as the Spiritual theme. The latter has been inspired by courses she has studied in holistic therapies e.g. Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology etc The subject of feathers regularly features in her work. She finds this theme interesting as it conveys multi meanings; from a spiritual/holistic interpretation, to one open to the spectator’s interpretation.
She also enjoys Drawing & Painting, in Pastels, Watercolours, Gouache, inks, and Acrylics. She greatly enjoys learning new processes & experimenting with a range of media including Creative Paper Making, Felt Making, Fabric Art, Mosaics.
